The UK’s most trusted pet advice service
Contact UsHere to help you and your pet
Vetfone is a brand name of Vetsdirect, which was set up in 2003 as a way for pet owners to get pet advice when they need it most.
Vetsdirect is the UK’s biggest helpline, with expert vet nurses working throughout the UK. We work with a number of the UK’s leading charities and insurers.
All our nurses are registered with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS), and you can talk to them 24/7/365.
When you call, we answer very quickly. Our nurse will ask a quick series of questions in order to understand the situation and to identify any life-threatening symptoms for your pet. Once that is completed, the nurse will triage and provide advice about what to do next.
Vetfone won’t replace your vet, who holds a key role in your pet’s wellbeing. We can, however, help you avoid unnecessary visits: with the correct advice, two out of three pet owners we triage don’t need to go to their vet immediately. Calling our helpline first will save you the time, cost and stress of unnecessary trip to the vet.
Equally importantly, your nurse can identify if a situation is more urgent. In that case they will advise you to go to the vet ASAP, which could save your pet’s life.
Last year we gave peace of mind to over 100,000 pet owners

Our process
With over 10 year’s experience of helping pet owners to care for their pets, Vetfone maintains a robust process to ensure a brilliant standard of advice when you get in touch.
The RCVS regulates the veterinary industry, and our service complies with the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct. Resultantly, Vetfone triages, rather than diagnoses, your pet’s condition.
All calls are answered by RCVS-registered vet nurses, and calls are subject to a specific protocol based on your pet’s symptoms. This enables our team to eliminate life-threatening issues, provide peace of mind, and give the right advice about what to do next.
All protocols are proprietary and have been developed and evolved by Vetfone’s Veterinary Director, an experienced RCVS-registered veterinary surgeon, and our senior vet nurses.
All calls are monitored by quality and training managers to ensure the team adhere to the protocols and continue to improve the quality of advice provided.
